PRIVATE TOUR OF WINERIES IN JEREZ
This private tour of wineries in Jerez is the best way to discover the famous wine region of Jerez, where Jerez wines have been produced for hundreds of years and are internationally recognized.
Jerez is one of the best known Spanish wines, and its production dates back to around 200 BC. The Phoenicians introduced winemaking to Cádiz and began the tradition of Jerez wines, which with some modifications has survived to this day.
Any of the visits to the wineries that we will visit first includes a short film or an audiovisual show in which its fabulous history is presented to us. Next, a guide leads you through the impressive barrel hives, explaining the “criadera” and “solera” system used to blend different vintages, and the difference between finos secos, amontillados, and olorosos. The excursion ends in the sacristy with a tasting of different wines prepared by the venenciador with a glass attached to a slender bar, like an extension of his arm.
Our personal driver will pick you up at your hotel or residence in a luxury car and drive you in style to some of the best wineries in Jerez. During your private visit to the vineyards you will be guided by a wine expert, who will teach you about the history of the wineries and their different ways of producing wine in Jerez.
This private wine tour lasts approximately 8 hours for a minimum of two people. The final itinerary may vary depending on the availability of the wineries and your preferences.
We can also organize excursions for larger groups and different itineraries. Why also a visit to the Royal Equestrian School?

Sherry wineries in Jerez
Osborne Winery
The Osborne winery was founded in 1772 in El Puerto de Santa María and is considered one of the oldest companies in the world and the oldest in Spain. Its symbol is the famous black bull visible on many Spanish roads.
The Osborne bull, one of the most emblematic symbols of Spain, was first designed and erected in Cádiz in 1956 as an advertisement for Osborne sherry. They were black with the “Veterano” marking painted in red. When Spanish law decreed that there could be no advertising near main thoroughfares, the mark was painted black but the bulls stayed because by then they were considered a symbol of Spain and were considered to have aesthetic or cultural significance.
González Byass Winery
In González Byass you can visit wineries as sacred as Los Apósteles and La Constancia. You might even catch a glimpse of the famous sherry-drinking mice, who have returned after a few years’ absence following some repair work in the basement (a miniature glass and ladder are laid out for your indulgence). You will learn how a barrel from the private supply of dry Jerez kept by José de la Peña, uncle of the founder of the winery, was sent to England, giving rise to a legend: Tío Pepe, the best-selling aperitif wine in the world.
Domecq Winery
Bodegas Domecq is the oldest winery in Jerez with more than 269 years. In this winery you will learn how a shipment of undelivered wine spirits originally destined for the Netherlands was left to mature in old sherry barrels and became the first Brandy de Jerez in 1874: Fundador.
You will also see the moving monument to the late José Ignacio Domecq (known to all as “La Nariz”), who was armed with a formidable proboscis and an uncanny ability to use it. No one could smell the qualities of a wine better than him.
